Another national retailer has filed for bankruptcy and will close all 11 of its Georgia stores.
ATLANTA, GA — Jewelry and accessories retailer Charming Charlie has filed for bankruptcy and will close all of its 261 stores by the end of August, including 11 in Georgia. The news marks another closing in what's been a rough year for national retailers with stores in the Peach State.
The company's websites shows store locations in:
- Ashley Park Mall: Newnan
- The Forum on Peachtree Parkway: Norcross
- The Shoppes at River Crossing: Macon
- The Avenue Webb Gin: Snellville
- The Avenue Forsyth: Cumming
- Arbor Place Mall: Douglasville
- Mall of Georgia: Buford
- Oglethorpe Mall: Savannah
- Augusta Mall: Augusta
- Cumberland Mall: Atlanta
- Woodstock Square: Woodstock
The specialty retailer became known following its 2004 opening for grouping women's fashion accessories by color. However, recent times have proved tough for Charming Charlie and the retailer closed 100 locations last year, Dallas News reported.
The retailer said the decision to file for bankruptcy again was made "after the implementation of numerous cost-reduction measures" which failed to stabilize the business and ensure profitability.
